Located in Australia in the State of Victoria, Toomah Wines was established in 1996 by Matt Robinson (pictured). Set in the midst of beautiful Toomuc Valley, part of Cardinia Ranges, near the township of Pakenham, the main township of Cardinia Shire. Cardinia Shire has an area of 1 282 square kilometres (128 200 ha) and is 80% rural. Using the historic name, dating from the early 1800s, of the valley, creek and cattle run, the vineyard, winery and cellar door is less than one hour by car from the centre of Victoria’s Capital Melbourne heading south east on the Monash Freeway (South Eastern Freeway). Toomah Wines is 100% estate grown and bottled. This is a guarantee of a truly regional wine as only our grapes are used in our wines. Our goal is produce soft elegant wines by ensuring low yields. We grow it, make it, drink it, sell it...and love it! Offering complimentary tastings, the Toomah Wines Cellar Door located in an historic building is open to the public on the first Sunday of every month from 11 am to 6pm. For wine sales and tastings at other times please telephone or email. The Cellar Door has an café seating 50, with views of the 20 acres under vine. The views of the vineyard can be enjoyed all year round and no matter what the weather! Group Tours welcome by appointment. Also on offer are arguably the best Devonshire Tea around as well as cheese platters. At Cellar Door we stock locally made produce such as jams, chutneys, honey and apple juice. While you visit Toomah Wines read about the history of the property, established in 1880 by the Kitchens family (of Lever and Kitchen/Velvet Soap fame) as their country residence. Matt and Michelle Robinson reside in the Manager’s Residence or Gatehouse, opposite the Cellar Door. The Cellar Door is in the renovated ‘Post Office’ used by the farm as an office, wage and mail delivery from 1880 to the 1930s back in the farm’s glory days when it was the largest orchard in the southern hemisphere.
